Virgil Gordon

Virgil Lee Gordon, 86, passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of Liberty Baptist Church, a member of the Bible Believers Sunday School Class and was retired from Dean Burnette and Associates. He enjoyed horseback riding, firearm target practicing, golf and was proud of his membership in the NRA. Mr. Gordon was preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta Jane McNish Gordon; and brother, Bill Owenby. Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Loretta "Lottie" Gordon; children, Cheryl (Larry) Coxey, Nick Gordon, Lora (Jeff) Ford, Kimberly (Dana) Goss and Crystal (Kenny) Pitts; stepchildren, Kenneth Thornton, Donna Onby and Chris Thornton; sister, Evelyn Hamby 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a niece, nephew and several extended family. Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home. Burial will follow atLakewood Memory Gardens, South. Members of the Bible Believers Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday and from noon Sunday until the funeral hour in the funeral home. Arrangements by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
