Charles Phipps

Charles Eugene Phipps, 76, passed away Sunday Jan. 26, 2014. A resident of the North Georgia, Chattanooga area for the past 15 years, he was a former resident of Morehead City, N.C. He was a retired Veteran of the U.S. Marines, former Chief of Police in Morehead City, North Carolina, a former Charter Boat Captain in Morehead City, N.C., a former driver at Erlanger for 2 years and was of the Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Anna Miller Phipps and several siblings. He is survived by his wife, Mildred White Scott Phipps, of Ringgold, Ga.; daughter, Kista (Greg) Gipson, of Cleveland, Oh.; step-children, Barbara Yvonne (Bud) Scott Arms, of Ringgold, Ga., and Gail (Frank) Grucel, of Crete, Ill.; two sisters, JoAnn Willison, of Battleground, Indiana and Susan Warner, of Huntington, Indiana; six grandchildren, Gregory Gipson, David Gipson, Kami (Shawn) Fisher, Katie (Cameron) Blankenship, Scott (Jamie) Arms and George Grucel; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 29, 2014 in the funeral home chapel. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-9 p.m. and Wednesday until funeral time at the funeral home.
