Vernon Sluder

Vernon Payne Sluder, 96, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014. She was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church. Ms. Sluder was preceded in death by her husband, James Claude Sluder; two sons, Ray Sluder and Vance Sluder and seven sisters. She is survived by her sons, James L. (Sheila) Sluder, Mickey Sluder; daughters, Bea (Archie) Fitzgerald, Sandra (Stanley) Hineman, Janie (Bobby) Runyan, Debbie Roddy; twenty grandchildren, twenty seven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Pat and Mary for all their love and care they provided to their mother. Funeral services will be Noon, Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Ted Painter officiating. Interment will follow in Hotwater Cemetery. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today, at the funeral home. Ms. Sluder's grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
