Ruth Robinson

Ruth Cornelia Robinson, 86, of Chattanooga, died Saturday, July 19, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Arlington Cornelius and Esther Phillips Robinson and the sister of the late James Arlington Robinson. Survivors are her sister-in-law, Helen Robinson; two nephews, James L. Robinson (Patricia), Inver Grove Heights, Minn., and Don H. Robinson (Dawn), Carlsbad, Calif.; four great-nephews, Kyle (Stephanie) and Andrew (Lexi) Robinson, Minneapolis, and Ryan and Tyler Robinson, Carlsbad; one great-great nephew and one great-great niece, Minneapolis; several cousins. A graduate of the University of Chattanooga, she was a retired religion editor at The Chattanooga Times and a free-lance writer for the Signal Mountain Post and Chattanoogan.com. She was a member of First Baptist Church and teacher of the Challengers Sunday School Class. She was a volunteer with the Chattanooga Community Kitchen and Habitat for Humanity and a member of Signal Mountain Lions Club, Signal Mountain Community Guild, Walden Guild and Lone Oak Family and Community Education. Funeral services will be in First Baptist Church sanctuary at 1 p.m. today, July 23, 2014, with Dr. Thomas Quisenberry and the Rev. Wert Campbell officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 401 Gateway Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37402.
