John Williamson

John Durwood Williamson, 86, of Birchwood, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. John was born in Clinton, Ala., to the late George and Elizabeth Williamson. He lived in Chattanooga and Birchwood most of his life. John was a member of Georgetown Baptist Church in Birchwood. John was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen Williamson; son, Durwood Williamson; parents, George and Elizabeth Ellison Williamson; sisters, Delene Summer and Ruth Gore; brothers, J.C and R.W. Williamson. John is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Herndon, of Birchwood; granddaughter, Tamara Herndon, of Birchwood; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. today, March 20, 2014, and from 11 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2014, until the time of service at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel. Funeral services for John will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Earl Farris and Pastor Jeff Stinnett officiating. Interment to follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
