David Burney

Robert David Burney, 63, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014. He was born Feb. 2, 1951 in Fort Bragg, N.C. He was employed by Kirk Machine shop and retired from US Pipe. He was an active member of Parkway Baptist where he served as deacon and Security Director since 2010. Mr. Burney spent many years faithfully serving the Lord and was ordained as deacon at Cloud Springs Baptist Church in 1998. David was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anne Burney; and brother, Larry Burney. David is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sharlene Biddle Burney; son, Jeff (Amy) Burney, Cartersville, Ga.; daughter, Amanda (Nathan) Smith, Ringgold, Ga.; sisters, Sandra (David) Daniels, Ringgold, and Patti Miller, East Ridge; grandchildren, Madison Burney, and Wyatt and Caleb Smith, along with several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held noon Friday at Heritage Funeral Home with Dr. David Sampson, Randy Headrick, Michael Lea and Rev. Kevin Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South. Honorary Pallbearers will be the deacons of Parkway Baptist.
