Dr. George Earnshaw

Dr. George Dyson Earnshaw Jr., 90, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014. Dr. Earnshaw was born in Elverson, Pa., to the late George and Florence Earnshaw. He was a longtime pastor in Chattanooga and throughout the United States from 1945 until 2012. He also taught at the Chattanooga Rescue Mission and Tennessee Temple University. Dr. Earnshaw was also a missionary to Africa. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Linda Peterson; and brother, Elwood Earnshaw. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Earnshaw; son, Ken (Ruth) Earnshaw; daughters, Jane Garner, Jean Earnshaw, Phyllis McElhiney, Jenny (Gary) Gray and Judy (Tim) Christian; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Leigh (Betty) Earnshaw and Charles (Janet) Earnshaw; and sister, Edith Fails. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, at Stanley Heights Baptist Church (1512 McBrien Road, East Ridge, TN 37412) with Pastor Brent Baughman officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Chattanooga Rescue Mission (P.O. Box 3624, Chattanooga, TN 37404-0624).
