James Robinson

James Virgil Robinson, 80, of Chattanooga, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in the stillness of the evening on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014. Jim was born in Canton, N.C. on May 11, 1934, the first child of Virgil and Mae Worley Robinson. Jim graduated from Canton High School and went on to work at Champion Papers in 1956. Previously, he was a member of Beaverdam Methodist Church in Canton and currently, he was a member of Bayside Baptist Church in Harrison. Jim was a huge sports fan and attended many of the Kingsmen fast-pitch softball games in their glory days. He was also a big fan of the ACC, the SEC, the Chattanooga Mocs and the Atlanta Braves. He was a family man and he always put the needs of his family before his own. He enjoyed spending time, especially at the beach with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dale Roy Robinson; his sister, Carolyn Mae Robinson Worley; and his former wife, Mary Jane Miller Robinson. Left to cherish his wisdom, his wonderful sense of humor, his determined spirit and his kindness are his wife, Dr. Cheryl Malone Robinson; his brother, Donald Robinson; his sister June (Dr. James) Causby; his daughter, Pamela Robinson Parris; his son, Patrick Lane (Patricia) Robinson; his stepchildren, Frank (Lesia) Johnson, Gini Johnson, Ryan (Lindsay) Johnson; six granddaughters; three great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews. His quiet personality and steady, wise advice will long be remembered and treasured by his family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at Bayside Baptist Church in Harrison. A memorial service will also be held in Canton, N.C., at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at Beaverdam Methodist Church. Visit www.heritagefh.com to share words of comfort to the family.
