Margaret Fox

Margaret Jackson "Grandmama" Fox, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at her home. She was 96 years old. Margaret was born in Meridian, Miss., to the late Luther and Mary Ray Jackson. She attended Central High School. Margaret owned and operated a local grocery store on Tucker Street for years and also retired from Miller Brothers. She was a former member of Northside Baptist Church where she was the president of her Sunday school class. Margaret was currently a member of Stuart Heights Baptist Church and was active in the Sunday Bible class, and the Ball Club, whose motto was "Be Active, Live Longer." She was well known for her chocolate and pecan pies and always had a great sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred T. Fox; siblings, Mamie Pennington, Pearl Atkinson, Paul Jackson and Nell Underwood; and her oldest son, Wert Fox. Margaret is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Melba Fox and David and Beth Fox; daughter-in-law, Nancy Fox Henley and husband Doug; grandchildren, Susan (Frank) Lawson, Carol (Nick) Formisano, Michael and Andrew Fox; great-grandchildren, Trey and Caroline Lawson and Will and Wright Formisano; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A celebration of Margarets life will held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at the North Chapel with Reverend Darrell Davenport officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
